Bye Bye Under Eyes Concealer Review | It Cosmetics

Today I wanted to review a new addition to my cosmetic bag – Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer from It Cosmetics. If you’ve read a few of my other posts, you’ll know that my current go-to concealer is from Revlon (even though I’ve tried plenty!) But did this new cream win the top place for under eye concealer? Is it really worth the price tag? Check out my review below!

What Is Bye Bye Under Eye?

Created by IT Cosmetics (or is it “It Cosmetics”?) Bye Bye Under Eye is a concealer made specifically for under-eye coverage.

If you know anything about me, you’ll know that under-eye bags are the literal bane of my existence. Currently, I use Revlon Youth FX Fill + Blur concealer which has been pretty great so far. However, I’ve nearly run out of my current tube and decided I wanted to try something else before re-buying. I’ve also noticed that the current colour of Revlon doesn’t match my pale skin anymore (hello, winter-time darkness!) and I’ve lost nearly all colour in my face throughout the wintertime.

I’ve also tried NYX Dark Circle Concealer with horrible results, unfortunately.

I went straight to Reddit and searched for the best under eye concealer. A new ideas popped up, products from brands like NARS and Urban Decay. However, It Cosmetics’ Bye Bye Under Eye was mentioned multiple times, so I decided to go for it instead.

While it comes with a hefty price tag of £24 or $26 USD, you only get a 8 ml tube. It’s so small! I started to doubt if it was worth the money, but I’m really glad I tried it in the end.

I’ve never tried anything from this award-winning American makeup brand yet (until their Bye Bye Under Eye). They claim that their products have been developed with plastic surgeons and dermatologists, in order to create the best cosmetic products. To be honest, I’ve never actually heard of It Cosmetics until reading up on them. They seem to be a bit higher end, so their products won’t necessarily be found in every drugstore or shop.

Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer

What’s It Like?

This concealer is squeezed out of a tiny opening in the tube. The consistency is thick and creamy, offering huge coverage. The bottle claims it’s full coverage, anti-aging and waterproof. That’s quite the statement! And while I’m not currently looking for any anti-aging concealers, I can definitely attest that this concealer offers lots of coverage.

Like everyone else who’s ever used a concealer, one of the big issues is whether this will crease or crack on your skin. Because there is many fine lines, wrinkles and thin skin around the eyes, it’s so easy for makeup to cake itself into all the places you don’t want it. In my opinion, the Bye Bye Under Eye is thick, without cementing into any fine lines. I can see how it would cover wrinkles and effectively conceals darkness under the eyes.

Here’s probably one of the biggest downsides – where are you buying it? If you’re getting Bye Bye Under Eye in the US, or on their American website, you’ll have the option to choose from 48 shades. How lovely!

If you’re buying it in the UK shops, you’ll probably have the option of about 5-6 shades. You better hope one of those fits your skin! I ended up with the lightest option the store had, which is called “Light (Ultra Fair).” To be honest, it’s a bit too white and bright for my skin, but the next option up was far too dark and orange. I could take the risk and order a different colour from the US, but if it doesn’t match my skin then I’m out of luck.

There’s also a lot of reviews online that it helps make skin look younger and could even potentially be worn as a foundation. While I can’t say it makes me look any younger (I already have a baby-face) it would certainly be thick as a foundation. However, it certainly feels good on my skin.

Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer Review
Even before blending into the skin, you can see how thick the concealer really is!

What Does It Feel Like?

The great thing with this concealer is that you definitely don’t need a lot of it for real coverage. It’s thick and creamy, which is lovely! However, this does make it difficult to properly blend into your skin. You’ll need to give yourself some time to properly apply this concealer.

Some people even recommend that you should warm a tiny amount with your finger tips before applying, making it easier to blend. I haven’t tried this yet, but I can see how it would help. I currently apply this concealer by squeezing it out directly onto my face then blending it in with my fingers. A sponge might be more effective, but I always fear that you lose so much product in makeup sponges.

Annoyingly, it does smudge around my eyes and nose slightly when I wear glasses or sunglasses, so that’s something to keep in mind. But there are tons of really positive reviews online about Bye Bye under Eyes and I can see why.

One reviewer said: “I love the under eye cream and actually use that as my foundation! Great cover up over age spots. Have used this product for over 3 years. A little bit goes a long way!”

Final Verdict on Bye Bye Under Eye Concealer

I have to say, I think I’ve been won-over by this concealer. Even though I had never heard of It Cosmetics before, I can understand why so many people swear by their concealer.

Although a bit expensive for a small amount, this concealer has really coverage power while remaining creamy and soft. From my experiences so far, it hasn’t caked into any creases around my eyes and is long lasting. I can see why It Cosmetics is known for selling award winning products – I’m smitten with this concealer.

The only real obvious downside is the amount of shades available in your country. If you’re buying it in the US, you shouldn’t have any issues finding the perfect shade. If you’re buying it abroad like I did, be ready to choose from 6 shades. Otherwise, this concealer gets top marks from me.

Perhaps re-buying Revlon will have to wait…
