Dark Circle Concealer Review | NYX
This week I wanted to review the Dark Circle Concealer by NYX! As someone with constantly dark eyes, I’m always on the look-out for a good eye concealer. Was this one worth it? Did I finally find the best concealer out there? Check out my review below!
What Is Dark Circle Concealer?
Quite simply, this is a under-eye dark circle concealer, packaged in a small pot. I bought “Light” but there were a few other colour options. Not a lot, however. I think there were 4 options in total where I bought mine.
By using an applicator at home, or your finger, you apply the product right from the pot to your skin. I don’t usually use brushes or applicators as it tends to absorb a lot of the product and that gets wasted, so I’d much rather apply it directly with my hand if I can. This pot is easy enough to apply straight with your finger directly onto your skin.
This particular concealer also has a subtle touch of orange to counteract the appearance of dark circles.
What’s It Like?
The product itself feels very creamy and soft, which is always nice. It does feel like it has some weight to it, which is ideal for those of us with really dark eyes. Oftentimes under-eye concealers just aren’t heavy enough, but this one definitely feels adequate.
However, after a few hours I noticed that the concealer had sunk into the creases around my eyes, making the product really visible on my face. I rubbed it in a bit more to get rid of the light lines, but it still ended up the same way a few hours on. So while it seemed to cover the darkness well, the product sunk into all the lines and creases around my eyes making it look very obvious (and just weird in general).
Some reviewers have suggested blending this NYX under-eye concealer with another product, to help blend better around your eyes. However, I don’t think I can be bothered to use two different products just for one problem. With the amount of stuff I need to worry about in a usual day, I’d much rather just have one concealer and be done with it.
Compared to the Revlon Youth FX concealer, this one falls very short.
What’s In It?
NYX Dark Circle Concealer ingredients: Octyldodecanol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Kaolin, Copernicia Cerifera (Carnauba) Wax / Copernicia Cerifera Cera / Cire de Carnauba, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax / Euphorbia Cerifera Cera / Cire de Candelilla, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Glycerin, Alumina, Tocopheryl Acetate, Phenoxyethanol. MAY CONTAIN / PEUT CONTENIR (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, 77492, 77499).
What Does It Feel Like?
When applied, it definitely glides on well while still feeling heavy enough to cover dark circles. It has a really creamy texture to it, which feels nice your the skin. However, the product doesn’t seem to have much staying power and tends to crease into my eyes within just a few hours. The products blending capabilities are pretty low. It then becomes super obvious that it’s sat there under my eyes and needs continuous touch-ups.
When I test it on my hand, you can see how it sits into the creases pretty noticeably. That’s probably the worst thing about this product. I don’t want to draw attention to my eyes with more creases!

Final Verdict on Dark Circle Concealer
Unfortunately, I’m really disappointed this concealer didn’t work for my dark under-eyes. A lot of the reviews were quite positive and the product itself feels quite strong and creamy. However the biggest downfall is that the product sinks into the creases around my eyes almost immediately. It becomes really obvious that you’re wearing it and requires a lot of touch-ups to re-blend it around your eyes.
Perhaps if you only have minimal dark under-eyes, then it wouldn’t be as much of a problem because you would only need to use less product. However for those of us who need to use more of the concealer, it becomes really obvious and cakey. I’m not interested in having to re-apply it or touch it up constantly.
I’ll continue my search for the ultimate under-eye dark circle concealer..!
