Charcoal Peel-Off Facial Mask Review | 7th Heaven

This time I wanted to review a different type of beauty product – a facial mask! This particular one is a Charcoal Peel-Off Facial Mask from 7th Heaven. Was it any good? Check out my review below!

What Is A Charcoal Peel-Off Facial Mask?

This peel-off face mask uses charcoal for problem skin and aims to cleanse and detoxify. Sounds great! Plus, who doesn’t love peeling off a facial mask? While you may not be familiar with the company 7th Heaven, they were originally Montagne Jennesse and have sold so many great beauty and skincare products over the years. Essentially a real family name for skin care products.

This one uses cleansing activated Charcoal to draw out impurities and has a combination of Witch Hazel and Birch Leaf to calm and soothe your skin afterwards. 7th Heaven recommends using this mask once a week for really clean skin. For me, it’s become part of my Sunday afternoon routine.

I’ve also seen that 7th Heaven have tons of different peel-off masks (and lots of other products) but I decided to go for this one in particular. I tend to have “problem skin” so why not give this a shot? The other masks all have different scents and are designed for different types of skin issues and seemed like they come in mud, peel, sheet or self-heating form. 7th Heaven also has nose peels, foot soaks, cuticle therapy and lots of other products to try. Reviews for another day!

I actually bought a pack of 5 charcoal masks for like, £5. So affordable!

What’s It Like?

The instructions are simple:

  1. Cleanse your face of any makeup or oils
  2. Apply the mask with your fingers and spread evenly over your face
  3. Wait about 20-25 mins for it to completely dry
  4. Peel!

When you first rip open the side of the package, it can be a bit intimidating. Pure black oozes out. Am I really going to put that on my face?

Definitely.

Mine was a bit cold but was easy enough to spread around my face. Let’s be real here, though: it’s messy. I did the whole process over my bathroom sink to avoid dripping black goo on the floor. Once I covered my face (avoiding my eyes and eyebrows, obviously) I sat and waited. It’s best to spread the mask as evenly as possible so all areas will dry at the same time.

Once it’s dry, the mask feels tight, as most do. But it feels like it’s working properly, you know? After about 20 minutes or so, I gingerly felt around the mask to make sure all areas were dry before peeling it off.

Everyone who’s ever done a facial peel-off mask knows how fun it can be. There’s something so satisfying about peeling this stuff off your face, right? This charcoal mask didn’t disappoint, either!

What’s great is that I found if you start peeling the mask from the top down, slowly, you’re likely to peel the whole mask off in one piece. How cool! I’ve tried other masks that come off in tiny pieces and take forever to get it fully off your face. Plus by peeling the full mask off in one piece, it really feels like it’s pulling dirt out of your pores more effectively, instead of peeling tiny pieces here and there.

What Does the Charcoal Peel-Off Facial Mask Feel Like?

Like I mentioned, the mask was a bit cold and messy when first applied, but once it’s on your face, it’s not going to drip off. After I fully applied mine, I sat and watched TV while I waited for it to dry. It definitely gets very tight and really feels like it’s working its magic while you wait.

Once all of it was fully dry, I peeled it off in one giant piece. It didn’t hurt while peeling, but it certainly felt like it was pulling impurities out of my pores. I also loved that I could get it off in one piece, so I didn’t spend ages picking off bits and pieces.

You can actually see dirt and other bits on the mask after you remove it. Pretty gross, but also hugely satisfying. Plus, my skin felt really clean and smooth afterwards.

Final Verdict

It’s safe to say that I love this easy-peel mask! It’s super affordable, easy to find and works wonders. Not only does the peeling-process feel great, my skin genuinely feels super soft and clean afterwards. After using this mask once a week for awhile, (my new Sunday ritual) I can see a difference in my overall skin texture and I definitely think it has improved my acne.

It’s great to have such a cheap but high-quality facial mask easily available.

What a great skincare product! I can’t wait to try their other masks!
